When a Mardi Gras parade just isn’t enough…there’s Masquerade.
For 2010, the Baton Rouge RiverCenter was jumpin' as the Krewe of Orion presented its Masquerade extravaganza. The krewe brought all of the excitement and fun of carnival to Masquerade as the Krewe of Orion's colorful floats and bands paraded indoors through the RiverCenter Exhibition Hall. Awaiting guests were showered with a multitude of throws while the krewe rolled through the Exhibition Hall.
After filling the air with beads and terrific throws, the krewe riders returned to join in the fun. The krewe then brought out the incredible action and music of Dance Express Band. A high energy, visual, and interactive band, Dance Express featured five energetic lead vocalist and a powerful muscial sound!
Masquerade will return for the 2011 carnival season. Watch this website in the fall of 2010 for the 2011 season ticket application. |

What Is Masquerade?
In 2006, the Krewe of Orion inaugurated a Mardi Gras extravaganza, never before seen in Baton Rouge- Masquerade. Along with Krewe of Orion members, their guests, friends, and associates, nearly 2,000 people gathered at the Baton Rouge RiverCenter Exhibition Hall for a formal night of music, dancing, and fun. The evening started at parade time, with all except the krewe gathering in the Hall for live entertainment. Never mind about the weather, these Krewe of Orion friends were warm and dry inside. Then around nine o'clock, the great doors opened and the parade came to the Masquerade. Floats and marching bands paraded inside, making their way through the Exhibition Hall to the delight of those waiting. Krewe members showered these guests with special throws and beads as each float moved through the Exhibition Hall. A sea of beautifully dressed revelers responded with waves and cheers all along this special indoor parade route. What a sight! Later, krewe members returned to join their guests for the rest of the evening. A high-energy musical act kicked off and entertained the partygoers until the wee hours of the morning. 2006 was only the beginning. Masquerade is here to stay! |
